I have curly hair. Let me rephrase that, I have really long, super frizzy, out of control, curly hair.
When I was a kid, I used to get these natural ringlets so my grandparents would call me Shirley Temple. In other words, I was a cute kid.
As I got older though, I really didn’t know what to do with my hair. I used to brush my hair all the time when I was younger, primarily because it was the only thing I knew what to do. So, all through middle and high school, I basically would have a wall of frizz on my head.
When I got to be college aged, I finally figured out that brushing wasn’t the answer so I finally stopped that and would only comb my hair out in the shower. That worked for awhile, but no matter what, my hair would always be frizzy.
I’ve tried various frizz products and smoothing creams over the years and nothing really helped.
Something else about me, I am addicted to watching home shopping tv. I don’t know what it is, but I just find it fascinating to watch. I just find it so curious and amusing and I really wonder who in the hell buys a lot of this stuff. It’s also sad watching this stuff and these networks will talk to some of their shoppers and some of these people would talk about how they love the presenters products and would gloat about how they bought 5 pretty pricey items that night. I would just wonder how in the hell these people could afford these things. I mean the callers would not sound like they had a lot of money, but were obviously addicted to shopping.
Anyways, most of the time the prices on a lot of this stuff really isn’t that great. But every once in awhile there will be some specials that actually are pretty good deals. Why am I going over this? Well, I was watching one night and there was a really good deal on a package of Wen products. If you haven’t seen the commercials, Wen is a non shampoo hair cleanser aka a conditioning cleanser. The premise is that regular shampoos contain detergents which actually dry out your hair and conditioning cleansers are supposed to clean your hair without stripping it. I’ve been looking up curly hair care recently and from what I’ve read, using a conditioning cleanser is pretty much the way to go. The price wasn’t that bad compared to what was available in other places, so I ordered some.
Now, I did try a Wen product before and I really wasn’t all that impressed by it. Maybe I was doing it wrong, (most likely), but after a couple of days of using the stuff, my head was just so itchy, I had to go back to shampoo. I’m trying a different formula this time and I am pretty sure I won’t have the same problem I did before. In other words, I read the instructions and I also chose a formula with tea tree oil/extract and that should help too.
I just started reusing it today and man, the hair on the top of my head felt so damn soft. There were still quite a few fly away hairs, but I just started it, so hopefully it gets better soon.
The package I got also included a body cleansing cream which I tried out tonight and man, it felt really weird. It felt like I was bathing with lotion. There was no later and the product felt like it was just being absorbed into my washcloth, rather than actually cleaning. It also took awhile to rinse off because I just felt covered with that stuff. However, I must say, my skin feels really, really smooth right now – which is kinda nice. I just hope it doesn’t cause me to break out, but there’s only one way to find out!
I’ll post about my results as I continue to use this stuff.

I broke down and ordered ChaLean Extreme about a week ago. I wasn’t going to, but the treadmill I wanted to get went up in price by $300! Doh.
The unboxing was very exciting. The packaging is pretty slick. The booklets are really well made and quite professional looking. The photography in the recipe book is pretty good actually. The production value of all of this was kind of surprising to me. I mean, the packaging itself is quite good.
I have not previewed or done any of the workouts yet as I had pretty much gotten 2 hours of sleep the night before the package arrived and well, I just started a cycle today, if you know what I mean.
The DVD’s don’t come in individual cases like other workouts. Instead they are all placed in a booklet for easy reference. I opened the booklet up and I was like, “Hey! There’s a DVD missing!” I then realized that the missing DVD was the fabled 7th workout DVD which I think you can order separately, but it’s something like $50(!). It didn’t come up as an option when I was checking out, but I wouldn’t have gotten it anyways.
I just ordered the basic set as I already have resistance bands and the price to get bands, weighted gloves and the 7th DVD is just ridiculous.
I was able to use a coupon code, but I don’t want to publish it in case it gets taken away because it wouldn’t be secret anymore. If you want it, just leave a comment or send me an email via the contact form above and I will email it to you.

Someone on one of the fitness boards I go to found this on Carl Daikeler’s blog -
Hi, Carl:
1. What is the price of the “Basic” ChaLean Extreme workout package?
2. What is the price of the “Deluxe” workout package?
3. Will the additional add-on items that are part of the deluxe package be sold as individual items, as an option? For example, can I purchase the 7th workout DVD ONLY, but NOT purchase the 3 bands and weighted gloves that are also listed as part of the add-ons? I already own weighted gloves and resistance bands, so I don’t want to have to buy these items.
Please advise & reply. Thanks.

1) Retail price for the Base Kit is $119.85 + s/h
2) Retail for the ChaLEAN Extreme Deluxe is $209.70 + s/h
3) We are working on setting up the ability to get the Deluxe Workouts seperately through customer service and on the Team Beachbody site.
I have no idea what shipping and handling is going to be though. And even though Beachbody can be kind of iffy when it comes to web orders, I will wait until it’s for sale on their website. In case you weren’t aware, the Beachbody Coaches program is basically a multi-level marketing scheme. If you sign up for a coach, the coach you sign up with or the one randomly assigned to you makes commisions on each sale you make through them. The only requirement to be a coach is to sign up and pay a monthly fee for the opportunity. I think you aslo need to sell a certain dollar amount of product per month as well, but as someone pointed out, a coach could make that sales goal themselves if they bought the supplements by themselves. I still don’t quite understand why Beachbody went this route instead of just investing money in better operations, but oh well.

I got my new 8GB Nano Chromatic on Tuesday! Hurray! It’s pretty cool and it’s so freaking tiny! It’s about the size of 2 sticks of gum laid out next to each other. Really!
Part of my prize was that I also got to download I think all of the Cardio Coach workouts Coach Sean has created!!!! Wow!!! I had purchased several of them this past January, but this allowed me to complete my library! I am so happy about this! I can’t wait to hit the gym this weekend.
I really should take a picture of myself with my new gizmo, but I am so self conscious of my appearance, I am freaking out about it a little. I’ll see what I can do. I tried getting Rayne to model a little bit and she wasn’t too into it. I guess I need to catch her while she’s asleep.
I added a couple of comparison shots of the Nano to my other mp3 players. I also have an 80GB Zune, which pretty much rocks (however, the software does not), and a 2GB Zen Stone Plus. What really sets these 2 players apart from the iPods? Their prices and both of these devices have built in radios! Having a radio might not be that big of a deal to some people, but I do live in a state that gets hits by hurricanes every once in awhile and it’s nice to know that I have a couple of different radio sources available to me.
I’m just so excited about my Nano though. That thing is pretty stylin’. I just need to get a case for it though. I went to 3 stores yesterday and only Best Buy had some cases for the Nano 4G, but they weren’t the ones I was looking for. I guess I could have gone to one of the Apple stores, but I really hate going to the mall and the ones I know of are all located in malls.
I am also still thinking about getting a treadmill too. I mean, I have access to treadmills at the gym, but gong to the gym takes like 2 hours out of my day, whereas if I had a treadmill, I would obviously have no travel or locker room time – and that extra hour makes a big difference whenever I think about going to the gym. I have lots of thinking to do!

I’ve been dreading October for awhile since there is a huge event coming up this weekend that I am supposed to participate in. I am exhausted though. I am really hoping my boss lets us take off on Monday, since if we don’t, we’ll be working 12 days in a row – which sucks.

But, things are looking up. I picked up a copy of Iron Man last night. I wanted to get the 2 disc special edition, but Best Buy was sold out. Darnit! I think this is the first film to come out where I really wished I had a Blu-Ray DVD player. The movie still looks amazing on my TV though.

I was dreading going in to work today and in order to distract myself, I logged into Facebook. Lo and Behold! What do I see? A comment from the spectacular Sean O’Malley of Cardio Coach congratulating me on winning one of the new iPod nanos!!!! OMFG!!!!!! I won! I won the drawing he was having!!! It was just so random! It all just seems to be by chance too.
He just recently joined facebook and sent out invites to probably all of his previous customers to friend him. I did. I stayed up late one night and saw one of his calls for entry in a status message, so I commented. He asked us for a random number, I put my random number into the fray and got picked by having my name drawn out of a bag! Heehee!!!!
Now, that totally made my day. Heck, if I didn’t have so much work to do, I was going to declare the day a personal holiday and just jump around all day!
I am going to be getting a 8GB model, probably in blue and I can get an inscription on the back. I am still trying to figure out a quote to put on there. I am also going to get mp3′s of a lot of Cardio Coach workouts too!!! I think I have most of them, but not all, and well, heck yea! I am excited!
I might even pick me up one of those Nike+ gizmos! Oh man, and the accessories I can get now!
Wow, I feel so lucky today! Hurray! I am tired, but I am still waiting for iTunes to hurry up and finish going through my music library. Oh man. I am so excited!
