Well, it’s been a couple of days since I started using Wen and I am happy that my head isn’t itchy! Maybe I was doing it wrong when I first tried it out. I am rubbing it into my head like I would with regular shampoo and really working on getting it into my scalp to help clean that area. Once I’ve done that, I’ll add more to my hair and then comb it through like I would with regular conditioner before.
I am still not quite sure what to make of it all yet though. It has so far passed the end test. Since I can’t stand hair getting into my face, I usually put it in a bun or braid it. When I would do that, the ends would just get so incredibly dry. However, my ends didn’t dry out at all on that first day and they didn’t try out today either, so that’s good. I’ve also been using it as a leave in conditioner once I get out of the shower. I think I might be adding too much though because my hair basically feels like it’s coated with lotion, which is just kind of weird.
I really should just use the stuff and let my hair air dry one of these days, but alas, I only have time to do that over the weekends. So I shall try that this weekend!
It’s late and I really need to get to sleep. I haven’t been getting nearly enough sleep these last few days and I am just exhausted.

I have curly hair. Let me rephrase that, I have really long, super frizzy, out of control, curly hair.
When I was a kid, I used to get these natural ringlets so my grandparents would call me Shirley Temple. In other words, I was a cute kid.
As I got older though, I really didn’t know what to do with my hair. I used to brush my hair all the time when I was younger, primarily because it was the only thing I knew what to do. So, all through middle and high school, I basically would have a wall of frizz on my head.
When I got to be college aged, I finally figured out that brushing wasn’t the answer so I finally stopped that and would only comb my hair out in the shower. That worked for awhile, but no matter what, my hair would always be frizzy.
I’ve tried various frizz products and smoothing creams over the years and nothing really helped.
Something else about me, I am addicted to watching home shopping tv. I don’t know what it is, but I just find it fascinating to watch. I just find it so curious and amusing and I really wonder who in the hell buys a lot of this stuff. It’s also sad watching this stuff and these networks will talk to some of their shoppers and some of these people would talk about how they love the presenters products and would gloat about how they bought 5 pretty pricey items that night. I would just wonder how in the hell these people could afford these things. I mean the callers would not sound like they had a lot of money, but were obviously addicted to shopping.
Anyways, most of the time the prices on a lot of this stuff really isn’t that great. But every once in awhile there will be some specials that actually are pretty good deals. Why am I going over this? Well, I was watching one night and there was a really good deal on a package of Wen products. If you haven’t seen the commercials, Wen is a non shampoo hair cleanser aka a conditioning cleanser. The premise is that regular shampoos contain detergents which actually dry out your hair and conditioning cleansers are supposed to clean your hair without stripping it. I’ve been looking up curly hair care recently and from what I’ve read, using a conditioning cleanser is pretty much the way to go. The price wasn’t that bad compared to what was available in other places, so I ordered some.
Now, I did try a Wen product before and I really wasn’t all that impressed by it. Maybe I was doing it wrong, (most likely), but after a couple of days of using the stuff, my head was just so itchy, I had to go back to shampoo. I’m trying a different formula this time and I am pretty sure I won’t have the same problem I did before. In other words, I read the instructions and I also chose a formula with tea tree oil/extract and that should help too.
I just started reusing it today and man, the hair on the top of my head felt so damn soft. There were still quite a few fly away hairs, but I just started it, so hopefully it gets better soon.
The package I got also included a body cleansing cream which I tried out tonight and man, it felt really weird. It felt like I was bathing with lotion. There was no later and the product felt like it was just being absorbed into my washcloth, rather than actually cleaning. It also took awhile to rinse off because I just felt covered with that stuff. However, I must say, my skin feels really, really smooth right now – which is kinda nice. I just hope it doesn’t cause me to break out, but there’s only one way to find out!
I’ll post about my results as I continue to use this stuff.

I just watched Black Swan [Blu-ray]
tonight and I must say, it was quite impressive. Okay, I do have to admit that I did get quite bored in a few parts, but I honestly don’t know if it was because the scenes were dragging or due to my tiredness. There were quite a few cringe worthy parts and it was certainly disturbingly creepy in others, but Natalie Portman’s performance was simply amazing. Like a lot of Aronofsky films, I was kind of wondering when things were going to start making sense, but everything really came together during the final, climatic dance sequence. Honestly, I was also wondering if this film was going to have me shaking my head at the end wondering if it was going to be like other Aronofsky films where after the movie would end, I would sit there in wonderment at his skill, but get nagged by that feeling that even though I would appreciate his skill as a filmmaker, I would still feel like I was missing something – some deeper meaning that would be on the cusp of my psyche, but just couldn’t get.
Black Swan was not like that though. At the end, I did get it and everything did make sense. Maybe it’s just because I’m older and process information differently from when I was in my 20′s, or maybe it’s because Aronofsky has grown more as a filmmaker, or that just the storyline itself made everything a lot more clear. Either way, it was an excellent film and an interesting take on the psychological thriller.
