A Ghost, A Star And A Hurricane
I apologize for the lack of updates, I just haven’t been in the mood to post anything lately.
Argh, I am soooooo freaking tired right now, but I can’t sleep. Maybe it’s because I put a dash of regular coffee in with my decaf tonight, I don’t know. It could also be because I am wondering about Hurricane Flossie which should be hitting the Big Island right about now.
But I’ll get to that in a bit.
In workout news, I feel like I am kicking ass and taking names! Hahahaahahahhaa. I finally, finally, made it to a 24Aqua class last week and guess what? The class was canceled because the instructor had to sub for another class! Doh! Of course, no on knew this until after the class was supposed to start, but everyone there made the most of it. There were quite a few middle aged ladies there and so they did a kind of workout anyway. They all seemed pretty nice and very friendly so that was cool.
My friend and I made the most of it too. We did several laps around the pool using the noodles for buoyancy and did some of those aqua exercises I do at the beach. I got bored with that after awhile though and decided to swim some laps. The pool is relatively small – it’s a 25 meter pool and they divide it into 3 lanes. At first 2 of the lanes were occupied by the ladies walking and bouncing around in the water and so I went swimming in the third lane.
Wow, there is such a difference between swimming in a pool and swimming in the ocean! I loved it! It’s hard to describe but the water in the pool just feels “faster” than the ocean. Of course this is probably because the water in the pool is pretty calm compared to the beach where you are always battling the currents. I just felt like I was gliding along in the pool, it was awesome!
I was the only one swimming for awhile until a sexy French man joined me in my lane. We chatted a little and I would have chatted some more, but then 2 more people got into the lane I was in. Grrr. Then the middle lane opened up and right as I was about to move over, these 2 20 somethings cannonballed into the water and decided to walk back and forth, taking up the entire lane. Grrrrr.
Oh well, in the end I don’t know how many laps I did, but I can’t wait to do it again. I even did like 4 laps just using my arms to propel me along, it was super!
The only thing weird about swimming, (of course, there always has to be something weird), was that there were a lot of creepy old guys hanging around the pool the entire time we were there. A creepy old guy is a guy who looks like he is in his 50′s, is pretty tan, is kind of hairy and wears a gold chain. Those kind of men just freak me the heck out.
I am kind of sort of planning on checking out the 24Aqua class again on Wednesday but I am not sure I am going to be able to or not because of the Hurricane that’s coming.
I took my second ever yoga class Monday night too. I left my house a little late but I made it! In fact I bumped into the instructor in the parking lot elevator so I definitely knew I wasn’t late. He seems like a nice fellow. He recognized me from the class I took a couple of weeks ago and we made small talk on the way to the gym.
I did okay. We did a lot of standing series stuff and my feet were killing me after awhile. I learned the hard way a few months ago that I really do need to wear shoes when I do yoga, but they were still hurting after about 20 minutes. I just need new shoes. Yoga really wiped me out. Then again, I am probably just tired since I went swimming at the beach for over an hour on Sunday and also hit the gym later that night. I need a rest I suppose.

LOL! How timely!
Say hello to Hurricane Flossie. She’s a category 3 hurricane right now. Okay, first of all, what in the hell kind of name is Flossie?
I am a little worried about this storm though. The outskirts of it should be hitting the Big Island right now. The 5 day forecast has it passing Honolulu to the south, but, it’s always possible that this storm will turn, and if it does, it’s going to hit us pretty directly.
I went out and got some more bottled water on Monday, just in case, as well as some extra canned goods and pet food. We already have a portable cooking stove and various flashlights, including a couple of those batteryless wind up ones. I am thinking that this is not going to hit Honolulu, but that one of the next ones will. Tropical depression Cosme turned out to be a big wuss when it passed us by a little while ago. It did bring some much needed rain to the islands, but not that much really.
I also thought I saw a ghost last night. I was heading out for a late night soda and ice cream run and saw this figure dash away in the garage as I was getting into the car. It was pretty freaky. I immediately turned on the garage light and there was nothing there obviously but it got me thinking about who it could be. It looked like a male figure, but maybe it was my Grandma?
It got me thinking about her and I really started missing her on my drive to the market. I am sure she is okay where ever she is since she would be with my Grandpa as well as her sisters. They are probably playing poker somewhere like we used to when I was younger.
I also saw a shooting star last night. The probability of me seeing one was quite high since it was supposed to be the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. I only saw the one though. I did make a wish too.
Well, the winds are starting to pick up around here. It could be the very wide outer bands of the storm or another front that was hitting us yesterday. In either case, it’s nice and breezy and feels cooler so I think I can fall asleep now. Hurray! I’m exhausted!
