For a brief moment, I contemplated doing Burn It Up! again last night. A very brief moment. I figured I haven’t done a pure cardio video in a little while so I thought I would try Cardio Party 1 from Turbo Jam again.
It was fun! I totally wasn’t as wiped out as the last time I did it – thank goodness. But I was still sweating like a fiend. It was just 40 minutes of awesome. I am really starting to like this workout more and more.
There are a couple of combos that I really like in this one. The first one is this rolling speedbag to an upper cut and the song she chose for this combo was “Mama said knock you out!” by LL Cool J – well it was one of those remake/remixes – but still FUN!
My next favorite is that very last combo. It goes something like cross, hook, uppercut, criss cross, zig zag, knee, then high low punches. It just flows really well.
I was pretty wiped out, but thought I would do an easy add on afterwards anyway. So I let myself rest for about 10 minutes and then whipped out the new Firm Pilates workout. I really don’t consider this to be a pilates workout. I also don’t consider it to be a toning workout. I just kind of consider it to be a really mild stretch and relaxing workout.
Honestly, I still don’t get pilates. I mean, I understand the concept, but I don’t get how it is supposed to be a super great awesome toning workout. Maybe it’s because the only pilates I have done is at home through videos and therefore my form is lacking. I don’t know. I guess maybe I don’t really have the patience for that kind of workout either.

I didn’t work out on Saturday night. Instead, I fell asleep at 8:30pm. That is really, really early for me.
I wasn’t quite sure what video I wanted to do last night. I thought maybe 2 30 minute Firms, but then I thought, well, if I am going to do an hour workout I might as well do a full hour DVD. I figured that since I was able to get through Ramp It Up! I might as well give Burn It Up! a try.
Now, I’ve had the Slim in 6 series for awhile now, but I would hardly ever reach for Burn It Up. I remember the first time I did it, I actually got DOMS in my abs. I was pretty impressed by that since I rarely get DOMs in my abs with any video I’ve ever done.
I push play and OMG! I was dying within 10 minutes. I remembered why I hardly reached for it – that workout is HARD! It starts with a quick warmup and then moves onto about 25 minutes of lunges, squats, kicks and standing ab work.
The squats were killing me! I normally love squats and get down pretty low on them – but you do the squats so fast in this one that my ass was burning.
One thing I don’t really like about the Slim in 6 workouts is that there is no stretch at the beginning of the workout – just a quick warmup. Now there is some debate as to whether stretching at the beginning of a workout is actually helpful or necessary. I am one of those people that do find it quite necessary thank you very much and so I had to stop after about 10 minutes of squats to do a quick stretch.
I carried on though – Go Me! After the standing stuff, you whip out those resistance bands for some upper body strength training. I got through that okay. Then you move down to the floor for the donkey kicks, pushups and ab work. I again had a hard time with the donkey kicks and did maybe half to 3/4ths of the reps. Whoops. Push ups I did on the fanny lifter and I got through the ab work okay.
I pretty much skipped the stretch at the end and I thought I was going to be able to do the Firm Pilates workout afterwards, but I fell asleep on the floor after I was done stretching. Whoops.
Maybe it was so hard because I really didn’t get that much sleep the night before – I don’t know. I am kind of surprised that my legs and ass aren’t hurting since I was convinced that I would be experiencing major DOMS in those areas, but I am not. It kind of makes me want to try it again tonight to see how I do. I mean you are supposed to do this video for like 2 weeks straight, 6 days a week. I’ll see.

What’s funny is that this was posted on one of my fitness message boards and the first person to post about it actually knew what video this was off of. ![]()
