Firm Parts: Upper Body and AbJam!

I received a copy of Firm Parts: Upper Body/Standing Legs from Blockbuster yesterday.  My legs were a bit tired, and well, I was a bit tired, so I decided just to do Upper Body last night.  I actually had been wanting to do this workout for awhile now, but I left my VHS copy in Oregon when I moved.  Doh.

As hard and repetitive the old Firms are, I do have to say that they are very effective.  This DVD is about 40  minutes long and focuses mostly on the lats, triceps, shoulders and chest.  I was able to use my heavier weights for a lot of the exercises, which I am happy about, but my pecs are SORE today!

I also couldn’t do all of the push ups, towards the end I just would do them using the Fanny Lifter since they aren’t as hard that way.

Afterwards, I really wanted to do an ab workout, but I didn’t feel up to Tamilee, Cathe or Debbie.  I went with AbJam and I think I am still up in the air as to whether it is a good workout or not.  It starts with about 8 minutes of standing ab work which consists of the “tuck” and some zig zags.  She also throws in some capoiera throw moves too.     It then moves to the floor for some semi traditional ab work.  I guess I am up in the air about it because I just don’t “feel” it – I don’t feel like my abs are getting a good workout when I do it.  Maybe my form is wrong or my obliques are already pretty strong, but I felt the standing ab work more in my legs than anything else.  It’s still a keeper though.

I got my second Firm Parts compilation in the mail today – Tough Tape 2/5 Day Abs, so at least I will have a bit more variety when it comes to ab work.
